2012 4Runner

Viewed 231 times.

After many years of Jeeps, I decided to go a different route with respect to an adventure vehicle. While I found the Grand Cherokees to be very capable and comfortable, the limited availability of accessories precluded me from building the type of vehicle I was looking for, and their limited size created constraints in what I could bring along.

Reviews and recommendations steered me toward a Toyota 4Runner. I originally sought out a 4th generation unit, but most of the available vehicles I encountered were high mileage and not particularly well maintained. Quite a few were northern vehicles with excessive frame rust. After some deliberation I decided on a 5th gen. The search took me to a local Toyota dealer, where I bought a 2012 SR5 with 78,000 on the clock.

This post starts the build of this vehicle.
